Rudder High School Students created a special project to celebrate Homecoming this year.
Students designed three, 20-foot mums that are now on display in Rudder's Rotunda.
14 school organizations helped make the mums, including Floral Design Students.
The students started on the mums on September 17.
"We are just happy we were able to include everyone," said Cassie Redding, Agricultural Science Teacher. In all, about 110 of her Floral Design Students participated. They decorated coffee filters for the flower designs, used butcher paper and more.
"It was really fun. We got to do the coffee filters and the chicken wire. We glued the coffee filters to the chicken wire," said Paige Waldrop, a Rudder High School Student. "You take the coffee filters and you fluff it or flatten it out," she explained.
Students were pleased with the project that brought their campus together.
"Just being able to see the creations, outcome each organization came up with," said Naty Ortiz, another student.
"I did make new friends. I started talking to a lot more people... Teamwork makes the dream work. I met new organizations from the school I didn't know before, but now I do," said Yaneri Ramirez, a Rudder High School Student.
Students and their teachers are already thinking about how to build even better Texas-sized mums for next year.
Rudder will host their homecoming game against Fort Bend Willowridge at Merrill Green Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 26.
