The Rudder Rangers play Pflugerville Connally on February 28 in Cameron
The Rudder Rangers Boys Basketball team is continuing its stellar season. Rudder (32-5) takes on Pflugerville Connally (27-9) at Cameron Yoe High School Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m.
“We're excited for what we've accomplished and the opportunity that awaits us,” said Mike Carrabine, Rudder Head Basketball Coach.
“Our identity all season has been on the tremendous effort that these young men bring every single day, be it practices or games,” he added.“Playing with full effort has given us a chance to win every game this season.”
Rudder is 32-5 and the 21-5A co-champions. They won Bi-District (1st round) over Killeen Shoemaker 68-53. Rudder then won the Area (2nd round) game over Austin LBJ 57-53 to send them to this upcoming Quarterfinal (third round) game. There are roughly 260 schools in Class 5A. Of those, 128 teams began this playoff journey. As of Friday, only 32 were still standing.
“We don't always play errorless ball but we know that we can bring the effort every day,” Coach Carrabine said. “It's mentality instilled in the kids that they strive to compete daily, no matter the obstacles or barriers which may be in their way towards being successful. The Rudder and Bryan community at large have gotten behind us which has made this ride even more special.”
